- 1. About
-
-
- 1.1 Channels / Voices
-
- LoopAZoid is a VST2.0 virtual drum sampler. There are
- 48 distinct channels, each capable of holding one .WAV
- (8 / 16 Bit uncompressed, mono or stereo) or .AIFF sample
- (16 bits mono or stereo).
- LoopAZoid plays up to 64 voices. That is, whenever 2 or
- more samples are played "overlapping" in time, they use
- more than one voice, which is how every sampler works.
- A channel is selected by pushing the apropriate channel
- button in the window's left part, which makes the channel
- strip on the right side show the channel's parameters.
-
-
- 1.2 Outputs
-
- LoopAZoid has 8 outputs, grouped in 4 stereo pairs (master,
- sub1/2, sub3/4 and sub5/6). Each of the 48 samples can be
- assigned it's own output pair.
-
-
- 1.3 Volume & Pan
-
- Each of the 48 channels has it's own volume and pan settings.
- A channel's sample always plays on both sides of the selected
- output pair - mono samples being centered in panorama and
- stereo samples being left unchanged, as long as the 'Pan'
- slider is centered.
-
-
- 1.4 Mute Groups
-
- LoopAZoid provides for three different mute groups; channels
- which belong to the same mute group, mute each other on
- sample start. That's especially convenient for emulating
- a 'HiHat mode': the open HiHat mutes the closed one, which
- is how a real drumkit works.
-
-
- 1.5 Forward & reverse Sample Playback
-
- Within LoopAZoid, each sample can be played forward as well
- as reverse. There are 2 different root notes for this purpose;
- when the 'fwd' root note is triggered, the sample is played
- normal, when the 'rvs' root note is triggered, it is played
- reverse.
-
-
- 1.6 samples and labelling
-
- Clicking on the folder symbol in the channel strip opens
- a file open dialg to choose the channel's sample. The channel's
- label (below the channel button) gets assigned the samples
- file name, whenever a new sample is loaded. Clicking inside
- the label allows you to supply an arbitrary title for the
- channel.
-
-
- 1.7 import / export
-
- clicking on the left / right arrow symbol in the channel strip
- opens a file dialog for importing and exporting drumkits. The
- left arrow is for importing, the right arrow for exporting.
- Choose an empty directory for exporting and specify a filename
- (defaults to the program's name). LoopAZoid will copy all
- referenced samples to that directory and create a patch
- file (.lpz). Thus you can move, exchange, organize or reuse
- your drumkits; all current settings are exported. When importing,
- select a patch file (.lpz). LoopAZoid will read in all the
- settings from the patch file and reference the associated
- samples. Note that the samples must be in the same directory
- as the patch file (that is the way LoopAZoid exports them)!
-
-
-
-
- 2. Installation
-
- Simply copy the file LoopAZoid.dll to your Cubase VST plugin
- folder (e.g. c:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase Audio VST\vstplugins)
- That's it!
-
-
-
- 3. NOTE:
-
- Being a VST 2.0 virtual instrument, LoopAZoid works with sample
- accuracy in playback mode. This is *far* better than any MIDI
- attached hardware sampler can ever be. Plus, all signal routing
- is done digitally, so you get out, what you put in. Note also,
- that LoopAZoid provides for 48 channels, which enables you to
- construct comfortably big drum sets, compared to other virtual
- drum machines, which tend to have as little as 16 or 18 slots.
